morning people

I hate the morning. Or, rather, I hate myself in the morning. I have always wanted to be a morning person. Good friends, even Carpenter, all speak of that great feeling they get when no one’s awake yet, sneaking around, having that first morning’s coffee without kids. My neighbor said that the other day she worked out and was finished before 5:30 am! I was amazed.

Me in the morning is not pretty. I try so hard. Carpenter gets up at about 5am, and sometimes, once every two weeks maybe, I get up with him. Sometimes I am Bestwifeever and make coffee, maybe breakfast. But often we just sit on the couch, watching the weather, not talking, breathing in the morning. To him it is something wonderful–yes! I have so much time to get ready, get myself ready for the day. For me it is a constant should I go back to sleep when he’s gone or do I just stay awake?

Creature of the night

The nice thing about turning more than thirty (oh, how I never thought that day would come), and then more than that, is that I really realize I’m okay where I am. It’s taking me some time. But I am. Last night when Carpenter said “let’s go to bed” at 8:45pm, I said, no, I have to get some work done. I like the nighttime. It’s my chance to be alone, no one’s awake, sneaking around, at the day’s end.

So even if I still think being a morning person is better, I know I’m not a morning person. And it’s okay. Besides, I love the night life: I like to boogie.

I love being awake when no one else is, both morning AND night. If only I could get someone in here to babysit (or take my class) for an afternoon siesta every day, life would be grand!

I am so not a morning person. I don’t even like to talk to anyone in the morning. I wish I could be so I could get up and have that workout in for the day. But sadly I really don’t want to get out of bed to workout! I like the nighttime too, it’s where I get the most done!
