daddy’s better

by humanmama on October 25, 2012

My kids love their dad. As it should be. He is handy, fun, sweet, playful, and only says “no” when you ask him the first time. They love him just for the same reasons I love him. He likes to let them watch TV. He would give them ice cream for dinner. He’s not worried about their veggie intake or their reading minutes like I am.

Sometimes, they tell me they love him more. “Daddy’th better,” Lilly might say, “I luth Daddy and I don’t luth you.”
“Really?” I question.
“No, I’m jutht KIDding! I luth you too.” But I know they do miss him, while I’m here toiling with them and he’s out in the field, they seem to think that I’m here being the enforcer and he’s out there, perhaps, buying candy and toys for them.

But, every so often, I get a little reminder that they love me, too.

And, you know what? It is so good.

Ellen and I have joked about how one day Elise will think I am the “fun mama” because I am gone more and basically the same reasons you started about your hubs (toys and candy)…. just funny to see its the same on your side of the fence too :)

We’re a lot more alike than we are different…as usual…!
