cheerleaders

I do believe you should pat me on the back the next time we meet. Or maybe, when you see me approaching, just tap your friends nearby and begin clapping, all of you. It might start an ovation at the school, at ballet, at gymnastics, at the grocery store, but you shouldn’t be embarrassed! You should be proud!

Because: I’m still writing this blog.

Believe me, I love to write. I love to hear your awesome and funny stories, and I love to hear your reactions to mine. But, oh dear lawd, now I am writing blogs late, late at night or in small pieces that take me 4 days to complete. It’s painstaking, and because I write 40 posts per day in my head while nursing, or driving, or putting someone to bed while singing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” for the 100 millionth time, it’s frustrating. Because when I sit down to write, at 4am or 12am or whenever I get to it, I can’t remember a thing. And, if you just met me, we’ll blame that on sleep deprivation from having a new baby. Instead of what it is: I actually just have a terrible memory.

In fact, if you clap for me, I’ll cheer for you. I know that if you’re clapping, it means that you’re reading this blog, what with the sixty trillion other things you have to do all day. Between work and home and getting the kids around, feeding the dog, scooping cat litter, getting healthy, cooking, cleaning, and looking even remotely presentable. (Actually, you look pretty good!), you have taken a minute to read this, even though there are so many other things to do. And I thank you. I’m cheering right now, in fact!

Better yet: if you just catch my eye at the school drop off, we’ll both know. I’ll be cheering for you, you’ll be clapping for me. And no one will be the wiser. Deal?

And, by the way, nice job. You look great today.

Yaaaay!
